Jerry Falwell was a controversial individual. He was an outspoken supporter of South African Apartheid, in favor of segregation, against muslims, against gays, etc. While he may have influenced the fundamentalist christian movement, all his causes–that were not so christian, also need to be remembered.

Mr. Bush’s low ratings reflect not only dissatisfaction with him by americans, but a rejection to divisive ideology that has plagued this administration. Unfortunately for us all, that some of this ideology still prevades with many that support the president no matter what. When are we going to put our priorities in order and be pragmatic about it, e.g. now SCHIP looks like is a better way to spend our tax dollars than throwing away money at an ideologically initiated war (Iraq).
